Each month I share my goals as a way to motivate myself to get things done and stay accountable. I hope to inspire you to set goals as well.

Last month I shared how bad I am at saving money, so I decided to get smarter about doing it. I changed my direct deposit allocations so that money goes directly into my savings account every pay period vs. me having to withdraw from one bank account and deposit in another. Now the money is out of sight, out of mind and out of my pocket to spend as soon as I get paid. I hope eventually saving money will become more natural to me, but for right now I have a love/hate relationship with saving. I hate saving, but love to see the money sitting in my account.

In the continuing effort to be smarter about money, I recently spent two weeks tracking my spending; very similar to Refinery 29’s Money Diaries. Tracking your spending can be VERY enlightening. Stay tuned, I’ll be sharing the post(s) very soon.

I’m very excited because I am flying to New Orleans this week. It’s another business trip, but this one will be extra fun. I’ll get to tour the city with some key stakeholders and take them to some exciting venues to check out for future events. And then to top it all off, we are going to be building floats. I’ve never been to Mardi Gras, but I’ve seen the floats, so I am super pumped to get to build one of our own. You can follow my recap on Instagram.

Track my spending for two weeks

Done. The post is going live in another week or so, once I finish the week two recap.

Continue to clean out my closet

The closet clean-out continues and honestly, it might continue until next month. With the arrival of spring later this month, I’ll be switching out my clothes for the season, which means I’ll also need to go through my spring collection and get rid of things I won’t be wearing this year.

Organize my room

My new furniture is up and placed in my room. I’ve already started moving clothes and bags into the new furniture, but it’s a work in progress.

Contribute $300 to savings.

I saved $250 in savings and ended up putting another $50 towards my credit card debt, but I will make up for the savings deficit next month, by contributing extra money. BUT,  I was checking my passive savings accounts with Qapital and realized I had saved another $150 with them.

Continue to plan my first solo blogger event.

Third times the charm, hopefully.  The event is all planned out in my head, but I haven’t sent any emails for decor or made a call to secure the venue. Maybe this month I’ll do it all.

Now here are my goals for March.

Monthly GoalsResearch the new business and create a business plan.

I’ve been reciting this mantra “Money flows in as easy as it flows out” for the last month.  Because as you already know, I suck at saving and as much as I love to spend, ya girl is really trying to be a responsible adult.  I’ve known for a while that I need additional sources of income and not just because I love to spend. My parents are retiring and I would really love to be able to take them out. I would also love to do more personal travel without pinching pennies. So for the past month, I’ve been researching a new line of business and I think I am finally ready for the plunge. I need to do a little bit more research and set up my business plan before I buy any of the resources necessary for the business.

Complete my Global Entry application.

I keep hearing that it takes 2-4 months to get an interview for Global Entry and I really want to have it before I go to Aruba. I need to complete my application this month and submit my request for an interview.

Start working out again.

*whispering* “It’s been almost a full year since I’ve worked out.

I know crazy right.  I ruptured my Achilles on April 1 of last year and haven’t really done any workouts (outside of physical therapy) since then, so yea almost a year. I actually miss working out and have decided it’s time to get back to it. My Aruba trip will be here before I know it and I’m hating how chubby my face looks right now. I’ve decided to get serious about working out by hiring a personal trainer.

That’s it for March; I am keeping it simple because I know this month will be busy with events and travel for work. What goals do you have planned for the month?
