We’re 11 days into the new year and although I haven’t shared my monthly goals with you yet, that does NOT mean I haven’t been working on them. Because I have. Yesterday on Instagram that my theme will be a “Better Me”. I am focusing on all things that will make me a better woman: SMART goals, de-cluttering my life, self-care, a healthier lifestyle, etc.
Last month I started a SMART Goals series called, “Just a Girl with Goals“. I will be continuing the series through the year, so if you really want to crush some goals this year, sign up for my SMART Goals newsletter below. Let’s get to this recap of last month and my goals for this month.
My goals for last month were simple because I knew I would be taking a vacation to visit the family for half of the month.
- Complete my personal and blog goal planning for 2018 – I am 50% done with the planning.
- Officially launch my 2018 Blog Planner/Editorial Calendar – this is a big one because the planner is pretty much complete, but fear is holding me back from the official launch – So about that thing called procrastination and then when you pair it with fear, UGH!This planner has been done for the last month, but I haven’t officially released it. It’s available HERE in my store and the official release will be happening very soon.
Here are my goals for next month.
Create an updated vision board.
I have a vision board hanging on the wall in my bedroom, but it was incomplete. This is a task I’ve been putting off because I haven’t had magazine clippings to fill the board. However, last weekend my girl Yasmine had a vision board party so I was able to complete the board and make a couple mini boards for my Happy Planner. Having a visual representation of what I’ve set out to achieve is so important in helping me stay motivated.
Clean off my desk and organize my office.
Is there any better time to do some major decluttering than the start of a new year? Probably not! I’ve accumulated a lot of notepads and notebooks, plus an assortment of other things, which takes up space on my desk. It’s time to clear out what I don’t need and really get my office area organized. My 4 Ways to Organize Your Fridge Like a Boss post has been really popular so at the end of the month I will be doing something new.

Read at least one new book.
My friend talked me into joining her book club. I was a little hesitant at first because I wasn’t sure I would have the time to commit to it. But truth be told, I used to LOVE reading. I grew up going to the library weekly with my mom and brother. And as part of my professional development, I need to get back to books that can improve, enhance and entertain me.
Work out four times a week.
Keeping a consistent exercise plan has always been a struggle for me. I hate working out. It’s not fun, but seeing the progress is rewarding. I am famous for coming up with a million reasons why I can’t work out, so this year, I am throwing away the excuses. At the end of last year, I got crochet braids in my hair, so there will be no more saying I can’t work out because I don’t want to mess up my hair. No more saying I can’t workout because I don’t have time. My office has a free gym, so I plan to workout during my lunch hour at least two days a week.
